Creating a Session based on a template

Create sessions in Photonesto quickly and easily using templates. Save time on configuration and efficiently share photos with clients.

Updated yesterday

Photonesto is a tool for photographers for fast and professional photo sharing. Private (proofing) sessions and group sessions allow for the creation of galleries with the option of selling photos, making them ideal for portrait, maternity, and children's photography, as well as communion, preschool, and school photography.

Let’s say that as a photographer, you have a specific service offer and you don't want to waste time defining it from scratch every time you add a new session. Doing so would not only be time-consuming and tedious but also prone to errors.

In such a situation, it is worth using a very useful feature called "session templates".

This is a mechanism that allows you to create a pattern in which you configure a specific package or several packages by setting the appropriate parameters, and then use it as a base to create subsequent sessions. Of course, for various themed sessions throughout the year - such as Easter, Valentine's, or holiday sessions - you can create multiple templates with different parameters. We will show you step-by-step how to create a "session template" and how to use it.

Create a new template

Click the "Create" button, then select the "From a template" option. You likely don’t have any templates created yet, so in the next step, click the "Manage templates" button. This will open the "My templates" panel, where you can manage them.

In the next step, you need to click "New template" and choose a session type: proofing (private) or group.

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on a proofing gallery.

To create a new private session based on a template, click "New template", then select "Proofing gallery".

A window will appear where you need to choose the session you want to use as the basis for your template. You must also enter a template name - in our case, it will be "Family session". In the next step, click the "Create" button.

The process of creating a group session template looks exactly the same - the only difference is that you select a template for a "group session".

Create a new proofing gallery based on a template

To create a new private session based on a template, click "Create", then select "From a template" and open the correct template - in this case, it will be "Family session".

Fill in the basic information about the mini-session being added, then provide the client's details and click the "Next" button.

In the next step, you can immediately see that the data regarding the package/packages has been filled in automatically, so you don't have to configure them yourself. The only thing that hasn't been defined is the amount paid by the client so far - this parameter is usually variable, so it is not part of the template, and you must fill it in manually.

For group sessions, creating a new gallery based on a template looks exactly the same as for private sessions.

Summary

Thanks to templates, creating private and group sessions in Photonesto becomes fast and extremely efficient. This allows for the automatic application of your favorite settings, which saves a lot of time and ensures consistency across every gallery. Use templates to focus on what matters most - creating beautiful photos.
