How to streamline photo selection for an album

A wedding album? Or perhaps a baptism? Thanks to Photonesto, selecting photos from the gallery is simple, fast, and transparent – without unnecessary complications or misunderstandings.

Updated this week

Photonesto is a tool designed for photographers that allows them to easily create and manage online photo galleries for their clients.

After completing a wedding reportage or a photo session, the moment comes when clients must select photos to be used, for example, for a photobook, an album for parents, etc. Communication with the client in this regard can often be difficult and time-consuming.

With Photonesto, the photo selection process is much easier and less prone to errors than, for example, e-mail correspondence.

After the photo gallery is published, clients mark their chosen shots from within the application. The photographer can see the photos selected by the clients in their panel. The entire process is very efficient, ensuring clients receive their wedding photos faster.

The photographer can be sure which photos the client chose and for what purpose, allowing them to proceed directly to fulfillment.

Below is a step-by-step guide:

1. Going to the "Selections" tab

After logging into the application, go to the selected gallery and then click on the "Selections" tab. This is where the photos selected by the client will appear. It is also the place where the photographer can configure the available selections.

Selections are disabled by default in Group sessions, but they can be easily enabled in the gallery settings using the button on the right side.

2. Creating a selection

In the same place, you can create a selection – one or several; the possibilities are almost limitless. Describe the selection depending on the theme of the photos, e.g., an album for parents, photos from a photoshoot, or photographs for a photobook. In addition to the name, it is required to provide the client's e-mail address of the person who will be selecting these photos.

3. Photo selection by the client

The client logs into the gallery, where they have the opportunity to browse and select photos. By hovering over a photograph, a star will appear, which should be clicked to mark the photo. A window with a choice of selections will also appear if there is more than one.

If only one selection is created for a given e-mail address, the photos will simply be marked with a star (without the selection name being visible to the client).

4. Downloading photos selected for the album

Once the client has selected the photos, the photographer can easily download the selected shots from their panel. This ensures they choose the exact photos the client cares about.

The photographer can copy the names of the selected photos and easily find them, for example, in Adobe Lightroom. An example of how to use copied photo names in Lightroom can be found here.

Star markings only function in photo galleries and group sessions. In private sessions, photos are marked with a heart, which is equivalent to adding them to the cart.

Summary

Selecting photos via an application is slowly becoming a standard in the photography world. It facilitates collaboration between the client and the photographer and also speeds up the entire selection process, editing, and shipping of photos to the customers. The Bride and Groom also have the certainty that the photographer is processing the shots they specifically chose.
