Updated over 2 weeks ago

Photonesto is an intuitive platform for photographers that streamlines the process of delivering finished materials. In the era of digital photography, where photos can be easily copied and distributed without our knowledge, protecting your own photographs becomes extremely important. Applying a watermark to photos delivered to clients for selection in private sessions is one of the methods worth considering in order to protect your creative work.

Some believe that a watermark can negatively affect the aesthetics of photos and discourage clients from purchasing more shots. However, there are many ways to adapt the watermark to your style and preferences, so that it remains unobtrusive while still fulfilling its protective function. In Photonesto, photographers can adjust the size, transparency, and even the placement of the watermark, ensuring it doesn't interfere with viewing the photos while effectively protecting their work.

In this article, we will show you how to add your own watermark to photos in the Photonesto app.

Go to watermark settings

Log in to the Photonesto platform, then click the main menu icon in the top right corner and select "Photographer account". Next, click on the "Personalization" option. Scrolling down the page, you will find the watermark settings:

Add your own watermark

Here you will find watermarks suggested by us that you can use for your photos - click on any of them, and the preview will update with the selected watermark.

You can also set your own watermark - simply click the "Add new watermark" button and then select the appropriate file from your computer.

It is important that the uploaded watermark file is in png or svg format and does not exceed 600 x 600 pixels.

After uploading the file from your disk, a preview window with available settings will appear - for example, you can modify the transparency of the applied watermark. The preview will update in real-time with your new settings. Once you have configured the options to your liking, confirm them by clicking the "Save" button.

Create a new session and upload photos

Now you can create a new Proofing gallery or Group session and upload photos to it.

Note! If you change your watermark, the new version will only apply to photos uploaded AFTER THE CHANGE. Photos uploaded to the gallery before the change will remain exactly as they were.

To change the watermark on photos already added to a gallery, you must delete them from the gallery and upload them again.

Watermark on the cover

There is also an option to add your own watermark to the album cover. To do this, click "Add a album cover" on the left side of the screen and select the desired photo from your disk. Then, in the window, go to "Advanced settings" and move the slider to the right to apply the watermark to the album cover.

Publish the gallery and see the effect

Additional photo protection

In Photonesto, you can protect your photos with more than just a watermark - take a look at our advanced options:

We offer several security methods:

Display photos in Canvas element

Photos are rendered in a canvas element, which prevents them from being easily saved or copied from the browser. This significantly hinders unauthorized downloading of images.

Screenshot attempt notification

The system detects attempts to take screenshots using a computer keyboard, immediately blurs the image, and notifies the user. This is only partial protection — it does not work on mobile devices and does not detect all copying methods.

Image blur on focus loss

When a user switches to another application or tries to use the system while leaving the image in the background, the image automatically blurs. Sharpness returns when the image view is reactivated.

Copyright Protection Notice

Images display an additional message with the photographer's details and the viewer's IP address, shown alongside the watermark. This serves as a visible reminder of copyright protection and responsible use of content.

Summary

In summary, protecting your photos in Photonesto is a simple yet extremely effective process. By utilizing watermarks and our advanced security features, you effectively eliminate the risk of unauthorized use of your work. Adjust the security level to your needs and focus on what you do best – creating great shots, while our platform takes care of their safety.
